Ottawa, 20–22 October 2025 – The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ottawa organized several events aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Slovakia and Canada and supporting the successful operations of Slovak companies in the Canadian market
On 20 October, the Embassy hosted a working luncheon for representatives of ESET and their partners from Global Affairs Canada, the Parliament of Canada, and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security. Roman Kováč, Chief Research Officer, and Jean-Ian Boutain, Head of Threat Research at ESET, discussed opportunities for closer professional cooperation with Canadian government institutions.
Opportunities for specific business partnerships were also the focus of discussions during a roundtable with Canadian companies, the Centre for Cybersecurity at the University of Ottawa, the Canadian Cyber Forum, and the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. The event was organized by the Embassy in cooperation with Invest Ottawa.
ESET has been active in Canada since 2011, when it opened a research laboratory in Montreal. Since then, the company has established a sales and marketing office in Toronto and developed a broad network of partners and clients across the country. For the past decade, ESET has also been one of the sponsors of the Calgary Flames hockey team.
On 22 October, the Embassy welcomed a delegation from EXIMBANKA Slovakia, led by CEO Rastislav Podhorec, which participated in the annual meeting of the Berne Union in Ottawa. During a working luncheon, discussions focused on the strategic priorities of economic cooperation between Slovakia and Canada and on new opportunities arising from geopolitical changes, the CETA agreement, and closer cooperation between the European Union and Canada.
