Bratislava, 9 September 2025 – Slovak-Armenian relations are strengthening through intensive political dialogue and bilateral cooperation focused on trade and investment activities.
The increase in mutual trade — which has grown more than fivefold over the past five years — as well as the importance of peace dialogue, were highlighted on Monday, 8 September 2025, during talks between Marek Eštok, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia.
The Armenian Security Council Secretary visited Slovakia to continue deepening the Slovak-Armenian dialogue following the official visit of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Armenia in May, where he held talks with partners at the highest level.
“We are interested in developing cooperation between our countries in all areas, including nuclear energy, transport infrastructure, as well as the defense industry and the exchange of expertise that we can provide within Armenia’s European integration process,” explained Mr. Eštok, noting last year’s record volume of mutual trade, which reached €105 million. In the first half of this year, it again increased by another third year-on-year.
The partners discussed the current developments in the South Caucasus region and issues of peaceful settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations following the signing of the trilateral peace declaration achieved on 8 August 2025 in Washington. The Slovak State Secretary also confirmed that Armenia can continue to rely on Slovakia’s support within the European Union.
“We see significant progress in Armenia’s reform efforts, and Slovakia is ready to share its experiences from our own reform and transformation process,” said Mr. Eštok, emphasizing the importance of closer EU-Armenia relations within a deepening comprehensive partnership.
