Yesterday, December 9, Eximbanka welcomed the Ambassador of Canada, Her Excellency Karen Mollica, accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Mateo Barney and Trade Commisioner Natalia Barinka. The meeting was a follow-up to the working discussions that the Eximbank delegation had in Canada in October 2025 during the Berne Union Annual Meeting in Ottawa.

Canada has long been a stable partner of the Slovak Republic in the North American region, our mutual trade relations have a long tradition. Slovak exports to Canada last year reached almost 400 million. Today, several current investment projects of Slovak exporters are successfully supported by Eximbanka.

Rastislav Podhorec, CEO of Eximbanka, and Matúš Šársky, Director of the International Relations Department, presented to the Canadian partners the strategic mission of our institution in supporting Slovak exports. During the talks, a number of overlaps of common interests were identified, particularly in the areas of nuclear energy use and defence.

In cooperation with the Embassy of Canada, we plan to prepare a presentation event on Eximbanka’s activities for the wider diplomatic corps accredited in the Slovak Republic.
