The Slovak\u2013Vietnamese business forums in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City confirmed the growing interest in bilateral trade. The CEO of Eximbank, Rastislav Podhorec, presented specific export financing and insurance instruments that can help Slovak companies implement business activities in the region. Vietnam is currently Slovakia\u2019s third-largest trading partner in Asia and its most important partner in Southeast Asia. The signing of several memoranda of understanding during both events also demonstrated that the interest in deepening trade relations has taken on a concrete form\u2014particularly in the areas of industry, construction, energy, and technological solutions.<\/p>\n
A key point of the program for Eximbank representatives was a meeting with the management of Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), a long-standing partner of Eximbank and one of the key Vietnamese banks operating in trade finance. The meeting was attended by BIDV Chairman Phan Duc Tu and the bank\u2019s vice presidents.<\/p>\n
The main topic of the meeting was the deepening of mutual cooperation. Both sides agreed on the need for more intensive exchange of information about Slovak exporters and Vietnamese importers interested in bilateral trade. Such coordination can help connect business partners more flexibly and create better conditions for the use of financial and insurance solutions in specific export projects.<\/p>\n
A specific topic of discussion was also cooperation on bank guarantees in favour of Vietnamese buyers of Slovak products, which could accelerate the conclusion of business contracts. In this area, BIDV has the potential to become a key local partner for Eximbank in supporting business cases of Slovak exporters in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Already during the talks in Hanoi, it was clear that Slovak companies are no longer talking about opportunities, but about concrete projects that will require reliable financial and insurance solutions. That is why we consider deepening cooperation with BIDV an important step that can facilitate Slovak exporters\u2019 entry into business relations with Vietnamese partners,\u201d <\/em>said Eximbank CEO Rastislav Podhorec.<\/p>\n Representatives of Eximbank also held several meetings with major Slovak investors operating in the Vietnamese market, discussing possibilities to support their existing and planned projects, as well as further opportunities for the development of Slovak investments in the region.<\/p>\n Eximbank intends to follow up on its current activities in Vietnam at home as well.
